Photos taken at the Maha Kumbha Mela, in Rishikesh/Hardwar, India in 1974. This spiritual gathering attracted 15 million people to the banks of the Ganges River. The Maha Kumbha Mela of 2001 occuring once every 120 years, brought 70 million to Allahabad including 500 westerners to the Himalayan Institute camp. Along with the Himalayan Institute's 30 year history of on-going humanitarian efforts, Sacred Link Projects were initiated at this great gathering.
