Anna's Yoga Journey

Anna Rychner has studied yoga in India and the USA. She was initiated into the Himalayan tradition by Sri Swami Rama, founder of the Himalayan International Institute of Yoga Science and Philosophy in 1973 and has taught the art and science of Yoga since. Anna has also studied with yoga adepts on the Kumbha Mela tours of '74 in Rishikesh and '01 in Allahabad, India, as well as Christian and Buddhist meditation teachers, including Sr. Francis Rothleubber and Abo Rimpoche of Kulu Manali.

Also a Registered Nurse, member of the International Assoication of Yoga Therapists, IAYT and Integrative Breathworker certified through Transformations Incorporated, Anna has introduced yoga practices for health and healing in hospitals, pschiatric and physical therapy clinics, and senior assisted living centers.

 

Therapeutic Yoga

Her nurse's training as well as personal experiences recovering from a serious auto accident in '75 opened her mind and heart to the potential of yoga as a healing tool.

Anna currently teaches Yoga for Stress Management at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee; at Roger's Memorial Hospital in Day Treatment mental health settings; for seniors at Milwaukee area Laureate group facilities; and other clinics and health resource centers in the Milwaukee and Waukesha areas. She has taught yoga for S. C. Johnson's employee health and recreation center in Racine, WI, for 7 years. She has been published in Yoga International, Nursing Matters and the
Milwaukee Yoga Magazine on therapeutic yoga and women's health topics.

Over the years she has facilitated weekend Women's Retreats for Inner Beauty and Renewal at the Star Lake Retreat Center in northern Wisconsin. The retreats offer ample oportunities to enjoy the Northwoods, healthy vegetarian meals, workshops on; yoga, qigong, Ayurvedic healing, Native American teachings, art, creative writing and more.
